To summarize: If you are a Borderland 3 player and found the end game levels to be annoyingly easy, the gearbox is going to create more trouble for you. This is increasing the level of the enemy in these later areas. If you find them too difficult or right… well, too bad. Players on the PC will get the latest update, but consoles and other platforms will have to wait until later this month.
Borderlands 3 has assumed a reasonably new entry into the franchise, but developer Gearbox Software has discovered an error that it intends to fix with the next update. According to the studio’s analysis, late game venues and side missions are very simple and need to be balanced.
“We have noticed that new players are permanently entering certain areas in which they were playing,” the developers said in Thursday’s hotfix update. “He occasionally shrunk those areas, because the enemies were sometimes too weak for this purpose of the game. We also learned that some side missions later in the game were largely due to the irregularities in the balance. Was ignored.”
The re-balance will focus primarily on the areas of Nicotaphio and the side mission, which is one of your last planets. It will also strengthen enemies in Eden-6 Prison, Anvil. The gearbox will increase the level of enemies in the area to the average that players are reaching, but these changes will only affect the new roles created after the patch is installed.
This issue is not new to the series. While trying to complete side missions and juicy DLCs, it was fairly easy to gain more power in the original Borderlands. It was part of the structure of this game. Missions were a difficult problem. If this was difficult, it just means that you need to ask a few simple questions first to raise your level. I have always looked to prevent players from running faster in the game and to encourage exploration. But it was far from perfect and your character often ended up with more power over certain areas and missions.
Regardless, the gearbox sees this as an issue that needs attention and will solve it in a hot fix that is lively for PC users on Friday via Steam (Episode One) and Epic. The PS4, XB1, Study, and Mac should arrive later this month.
There are several other bug fixes and changes coming along the patch. You can see them all in the patch notes.
